The only positive thing going for it is the two-player split-screen mode, but that is ruined by the awful controls. They won the demo competition at The Party in Denmark with a demo called Shaft 7. What you might not know is that these guys are the ones behind Fears on the Amiga. The gameplay is another story. You are better of with the likes of Gloom that provides you with fast and furious action. Good golly Miss Molly!
This is, in my humble opinion, one of the best first person shooters on the Amiga. Nice looking graphics, cool effects and many interesting features. In Genetic Species you play the role of a Bioshifter. This means that you can take over the bodies of humans, cyborgs and droids and inherit their skills and weapons. Genetic Species needs quite a powerful machine to work properly though, such as a powered Amiga Highly recommended!
This is one of my favourite first person shooters on the Amiga. You can find it here. This is the deluxe version of Gloom with many improvements. I missed that feature in the first version of Gloom and I was glad to see that they had implemented the gun in this one.
The graphics are also much better. Great stuff and highly recommended. If you like fast and furious blasting, this is for you.. I tried this game for the first time today. The aim of the game is to kill a certain amount of monsters to be transported to the next level, which is a bit different from other games in the genre.
This game looks very, very impressive. Awesome graphics for its time! Sadly it is let down by lack of gameplay and atmosphere. It was slow on my configuration and the AI was pretty bad. One of the first opponents got stuck behind a barrel right away. Not recommended. All levels are on one floor, so no stairs or passages leading up or down like in Alien Breed 3D.
The game is therefore not as advanced as others in the genre. The 3D engine is quite fast though, and the game itself is easy to get into. It is also a bit atmospheric dark and scary. Not the best first person shooter for the Amiga, but far from the worst. Oxyron is a well-known group on the Demo Scene. Not surprisingly, Trapped II sported an amazingly advanced 3D engine for the Amiga at the time, with effects like lens flares, glows, fire routines, mirrors and a whole lot more.
The game contains 17 complex levels, frames of animation and more than different textures and hundreds of sound effects. The technical aspects are top-notch. It has more depth than the competition and builds on a decent storyline. Give it a go, you might be surprised.. It has both bad graphics and lack of gameplay. Crowds went crazy when this game was ported to the Amiga. It even works well on a powered machine! A good, classic game. No doubt about it. Yes, it is true that the Trapped II 3D engine made for Classic Amiga is by far one of the most advanced 3D engines ever made for the platform.
If played on RTG there are no slowdowns at all. By playing the game on a more modern graphics card, the FPS is even better. These coders implementing this 3D engine were geniuses when they made this game! I would love to get in touch with these people because what they did was too much hidden for people back then to know anything about!
Because it deserves it! So much work was made into making this game and with all the features it got. Amiga hearts will cry. Just look at the list here:.
You can play it on , , or But then you need to adjust the graphics settings. The creatures are in 3D, the hunted town is stunning, the walking and action are for the time pretty stunning. Walking, jumping is done nicely in the game. Trapped II also supports the mouse for looking around, which is great.
A huge bonus point just for that. This is the first entry to the series! From time to time, I will write about games I consider good looking and why — not limiting myself to first person shooters, or the PC platform, stay tuned! It was also a platform for the creative individuals because of the available software for creating your own art Even 3d models and renders!
The software and hardware expansion Video Toaster improved the 3d rendering capability and allowed the Amiga users to work on video post production at home, which was quite revolutionary at the time — it had a lot of features which were available only in the expensive studio equipment by that time.
I was pleasantly surprised to discover that there are Amiga exclusive FPS titles, most of them arriving late to the party Screenshots come from Hall of Light and Lemon Amiga game databases, big thanks! Fears was the first title which caught my attention.
Despite the cartoony monsters, the dark fog and background ambient music create a somewhat tense atmosphere. This makes the surroundings pretty interesting to look at, even though the maps are pretty abstract.
