Disney college program character performer blog

The first round finally ended and there were only about 50 of us left out of the original people that showed up to the audition. For the second round, we were told that we would be doing two animations and then an intermediate dance. We practiced the two animations for a while to make sure that everyone was comfortable with this portion of the audition.

After practicing that, we all learned the more intermediate dance. This dance was absolutely to see who in the room were dancers. I dance for my university, so I felt very comfortable with the routine. After we learned the dance, practiced, and then practiced the animation exercises again, we were told to line up outside the room.

Then they called us in groups of 6 to do the first animation, the dance, the second animation, and then the dance again for the judges. However, the recruiter told us that if they needed to see more of us, they would ask a couple other people to stay a bit longer. Unfortunately, tattoos covered with makeup are not allowed. Our auditions are closed auditions. Unless someone is auditioning, they will not be allowed into the audition room. Depending on the location, there may or may not be a place for a supporting friend or family member to wait.

Auditions for other entertainment roles and locations are listed on disneyauditions. If Disney Creative Entertainment is looking for other roles at these auditions, this information will accompany the listing on disneyauditions. Please keep in mind that roles as a vocalist, musician, actor, etc. Attending an audition only means one can be considered for the character performer role should they be asked to interview and successfully complete all interviews. The act of attending an audition will not automatically move someone forward in the process.

You do not need to contact anyone. It is known that some individuals who indicated they would audition during their interview will not show up. That is OK. The information is asked during the telephone interview to help estimate the number of people attending each location and also assists with check-in.

A student may still attend an audition even if they did not specifically discuss auditioning during their interview. The only exception is if a student was informed that they are no longer being considered for the program following their application submission, web-based interview or their telephone interview. Unless you have been specifically told you are no longer in consideration for the Disney College Program, you should still audition. If someone has already interviewed and was invited to participate on another role at the Disneyland Resort California , they should not attend these auditions.

If someone has already interviewed and was invited to participate on another role at the Walt Disney World Resort Florida , they are more than welcome to attend an upcoming audition. If they accept their currently reserved role: 1 if they are selected for character performer after the audition, they will be changed from the previous role to character performer 2 if they are not selected following the audition, they will remain in their currently accepted role. If they do not accept their currently reserved role respond online declining the role or not responding by their deadline , they may still attend the audition: 1 if selected, they will receive communication regarding how to accept the character performer role 2 if not selected, they will not be considered for other roles including the previously reserved role.

Applicants who are currently pending and wish to be considered for the character performer role are welcome to attend the auditions since a final decision has not yet been made on their status.

An applicant who has been informed that they are no longer being considered for our program based on application, web-based interview or telephone interview should not attend. This decision will not be changed.

Those selected will receive an offer for the character performer position via email. This will also appear on their dashboard. However, there was a girl who dressed like Minnie, a girl who was wearing a Donald crew neck, and a girl who did her hair and makeup just like Elsa, and all three of them made it to the end of the audition, so take this advice with a grain of salt.

As for hair and makeup, I suggest keeping it simple. I wore tinted moisturizer, loose powder, mascara, and just some lip balm. If you wear too much makeup, it is harder for Disney to see your natural face. For example, you could do your makeup just like Cinderella, but if Cinderella does not need anymore friends at the time of your audition, it may be hard for the casting director to see you as someone else.

If you make it past the first cut, you will get your picture taken- just a heads up. The audition I attended started at , check in was from , and on the audition website it said to not arrive any earlier than Naturally, I was anxious about being late or getting lost, so I gave myself plenty of time to find the studio.

It was about when I pulled into the parking lot. I found a parking spot, sang some Disney songs, gave myself a pep-talk, and prayed. There were a lot of others waiting in their cars looking around as well. I went in a little after I got in line and started talking to people.

Everyone there was seriously so nice, happy, and friendly. Also, the casting director and choreographer are very encouraging and make the audition a lot of fun! I thought I was going to be so much more nervous than I was, they really helped put me at ease and just enjoy the experience of auditioning for Disney. The casting director will have you type your name, e-mail address, and whether you are auditing for the DCP or General Recruiting. You will also receive a number; I was 9. It was mostly girls, I believe there were only 3 or 4 guys total.

All of them made it through to the second round as well. Once you check in, you will wait in a room for everyone else to check in. This is where you get to talk to everyone and make friends.

Plus, one of the girls who I was talking to had done the DCP before and was friends with Tinkerbell on her program, so she gave me a lot of useful information about the DCP as well as answering a few of my questions.

Also, if you need to stretch, this will be the only opportunity you have to before the audition starts. After everyone was checked in, we got split up into two groups. The first half of the people where in the first group and the second half of the people were in the second group crazy how that works.

From here, the choreographer taught us a simple parade dance. On one of my Skype dates with Alex my boyfriend I was very teary eyed. I calmed down to a quiet sniffle and he said one thing that completely changed my perspective. You went there to work and so everything beyond that is just a bonus.

I took a step back and for the first time realized that I was fulfilling my purpose here whether I went out every night or not. In that moment I felt that I had been ungrateful for turning bitter about not experiencing, but experiencing is not in my job description. However, it is a perk that I get to enjoy on a day to day basis whether at work or at play. Every moment here is an experience and for a brief moment, I lost sight of that. I feel like so many people come here thinking it will be one ongoing party of fun.

In reality, this experience is much like a really good coming of age TV show. There are moments where I have so much fun and laugh for an entire day. There are tender moments within long talks in car rides on our life perspectives. There are really hard days and trials that I have never faced before.

This whole experience is not about only having fun, it is about learning how to function in everyday life and finding out what type of person you want to be. It is learning about how to be grateful, humble, flexible, and most of all, selfless. Everything in this program combines into an experience which will continue to change you on a daily basis. However when you are at work, the experience is not about you, it is about the guests. It is about working for a company that contributes to lifetime memories for people who come from all over the world.

When you learn to become selfless at work, you contribute to changing other peoples lives, and that is the key to gaining lifelong life changing memories. If you come here to complain about work, whether it is about the hours you work or the type of job you are doing, this program is not for you.

Even if your job description is not ideal, just remember that every role is an equally important role in completing the magic behind Disney.

On somedays I have even seen people make more memorable experiences with the custodians than with the characters. For example, a few years ago I came here with my family for spring break. We walked into the park and were greeted with smiling faces from the people helping us get into the park even though it was scorching hot outside. As we got to the heart of mainstreet, we ran into a custodian doing water art. My step dad is very outgoing and has conversations with nearly everyone that we meet, so spoke to the custodian about the water art making a lightly hearted comment to spark a little fun.

The young man looked up and we soon realized that he had a disability, this man was mentally handicapped. Disney truly is magical. I still have so many stories and experiences to share with you guys! I will continue making blog posts when I can because I feel like I have a lot to say. I will make posts about common questions I get about traditions, food, etc. Thank you so much for the support you guys have given me.
